Travel Clothes (Page 2)
The wonders of technology allow me to write this article flying through the air in a small commuter jet. It’s beginning to get a little chilly in here, as happens in airplanes.
Not that long ago you could ask the flight attendant for a blanket. That little piece of covering was able to protect you from the cold. One problem with the airline blanket is not knowing where it had been.
Had someone with a cold, or the first signs of the flu, wrapped his or herself in the same blanket? Were germs lurking in the fibers of the material ready to attack your immune system?
Perhaps the blanket had something spilled on it. You now get to smell it or, if it was the flight before yours, the wetness may have penetrated your own cloths.
There are blankets sold at the airport made for carrying onto the plane. One problem with them is their bulkiness to carry with you.
I’ve solved my problem with a beautiful silk wrap that fits easily into my purse.
My particular wrap is one of a number designed by artist Diana Wesley. She uses a computer program which enables her to design healing fractals. The colorful designs are then imprinted on high quality silk of varying sizes.
My preferred size for travel is the large wrap which can cover my body. (I am a little on the short size, sometimes affectionately called a “munchkin” by certain un-named siblings.) I like one which covers my shoulders and torso, keeping me warm. Being enfolded in this silk also gives me the feeling that I’m in my separate little space.
There are several advantages to using these in air travel.
The beauty of the designs and the vibrancy of the colors.
The softness of the silk upon the skin. In addition to the unknown microbes, the material was not always soft. Silk feels wonderful against the skin.
The design themselves. The artist uses fractal designs which resonate with the human energy field facilitating balance. Travel, in itself, can be a difficult enterprise taxing the limits of the body as well as good humor. The balancing ability within the fractals themselves helps release the negative energy assisting you to move into a state of relaxation. When you are more balanced, travel is easier… for you and others.
The weight and “foldability” of the silk wraps. You can easily fold them and tuck them into your purse. Yes, they will get wrinkled, but then I have chosen this wrap to travel with me. I have others I use to wear.
Airplanes are notorious for changing temperatures, especially being cold. Covering myself in a beautiful silk that belongs just to me solves this problem.
